Staying at Mahitahi Lodge gives you the opportunity to experience personalised tours, time permitting, with John, your resident host. Enjoy a walk on the beach and learn some of the local maori history or take a sunset stroll to capture the magnificence of the final sun rays as the day closes over Mt Cook or experience the wonder of our starlit sky.

Activities range from sedentary strolls along a lonely beach where the forest meets the sea to more strenuous river valley and beach hikes. Or you may join John on a local tour to gain an appreciation of the local environment and /or early European or pre European settlement.

Into photography, Bruce Bay is a photographers dream, especially at dusk or dawn and capture the colours of the setting sun followed by the starlit sky.
