Indulge in a generous breakfast - cooked and / or continental.

  • Cooked breakfast could be bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, tomatoes and mushrooms.
  • Or try John’s signature dish – eggs benedict served with local smoked salmon on a bed of fresh garden spinach.
  • Prefer pancakes? We serve them with fresh yoghurt and fruit, or maybe try John’s deletible omeletes
  • Continental breakfast is choice of 3 cereals, fruit salad, fresh fruit platter and home made yoghurt.
  • Plunger coffee and various flavours of teas are always available.

  • Whitebait fritters (a West Coast delicacy)
  • Fresh homemade breads

  • Various cheeses
  • Freshly smoked local salmon

The dinner menu changes to make the most of season variety.

Dinner selection may include:

  • Slow roasted salmon
  • Lamb shanks cooked in red wine and raisins
  • Rack of lamb with red wine jus
  • Seared beef fillet served with mushroom and red wine sauce
  • Bacon wrapped venison, seared and served with a red wine and jelly jus.

All served with fresh vegetables and potatoes from our garden.

Not only will you enjoy a generous delicious breakfast at Mahitahi Lodge, but you are invited to indulge in dinner with your hosts at their specially crafted native West Coast Matai timber table.

The menu ingredients include fish from the local river, our own top quality fresh vegetables. Homemade ice cream and baking is a specialty.

Special dietary requirements are no problem - just let us know.

All desserts are served with ‘special’ homemade ice-cream and cream or yoghurt.

The dessert menu changes regularly and may include:

  • Mahitahi Sticky date pudding – very popular
  • Rhubarb caramel crumble
  • Chocolate Brownie served with chocolate ganache
  • Blackberry Tart
